DeBourgh was founded in 1909 in Minneapolis, MN by four brothers – Oscar, Herman, Henry, and Alfred Berg. Initially named “Berg Brothers,” the family later embraced their pre-assimilated surname, “DeBourgh,” in the early 1930s. The company’s humble beginnings as a small sheet metal fabrication shop focused on poultry supplies, roofing, gutters, steel ceilings, and light metal works. With time, DeBourgh expanded its expertise and offerings to include defense equipment, aviation parts, earth-moving machinery, and robust pedestrian bridges that still dot the nation.
DeBourgh spearheaded advancements in steel fabrication techniques, introducing precision flame cutting, various welding methods, and proprietary machinery that paved the way for durable, top-tier products. Among its renowned lines is the All-American Locker, now APEX, the pioneering solution that melded steel strength with innovative latching and ventilation concepts. It catered to a market seeking peace of mind, a need flawlessly met by DeBourgh.
